Been there, done that
“I’ve been to Singapore’s largest shopping centre and have taken a photo in front of its fountain.”

This seems to be what’s on the minds of tourists who were taking pictures in front of the fountain at VivoCity. It’s a pity that they did not capture the “VivoCity” name on the building’s exterior because the fountain by itself is not exactly very iconic. It’s not just the tourists who were fascinated with the fountain and it’s quite interesting to see how people interacted with the water.
A little girl filled up a plastic bag with the fountain water. A boy posed with his hands looking as if they were supporting the fountain. Two teenage girls tried to push each other into the fountain. A group of teenage boys deliberately walked past the fountain to make themselves a little wet. A father carried his young child to get a touch of the fountain water. A little boy wanted his parents to stand nearer to the fountain (even if it means getting wet) so that he could snap a picture the way he wanted. A few young girls screamed whenever the fountain water became stronger. Different groups of people probably felt helpless when the fountain water suddenly subsided just when the shutter was pressed.
I’ve not only been there, done that but have also enjoyed the simple pleasure of people-watching, seeing how people could easily get so much fun out of a fountain.
